Message from the Headmistress

  • Horizon of Hope

Last month, Pope Benedict came to the United States in what is considered a historic moment for both our country and the Catholic Church. Four of our own students and Joan Carlson, campus minister, were among those with whom the Pope shared his message of “Christ Our Hope” at a Mass in Washington, D.C. How this sentiment resonates at Notre Dame Prep, where we are all “People of Hope” educating young girls to go out into the world to make a difference! Pope Benedict urged high school and college students at a Youth Rally to follow the way of faithful saints. “It is a magnificent vision of hope—Christ’s light beckons you to be guiding stars for others, walking Christ’s way of forgiveness, reconciliation, humility, joy and peace.” Whether it is your personal spiritual journey or an institutional mission such as NDP’s, let us all affix our eyes to the “horizon of hope,” namely Jesus Christ, that guides us in all we do.

Headmistress Sister Patricia McCarron, SSND
