Areté, Diké, Timé "

Excellence, Justice, Honor

“Areté, Diké, Timé” or “Excellence, Justice, Honor” is the motto of the Cum Laude Society, which seeks to recognize outstanding scholastic achievement among high school students.  Since 1988, Notre Dame Prep has been a member of this prestigious national organization.  Students in their junior and senior years may be nominated to the Cum Laude society.

Criteria:

The criteria for Cum Laude membership includes specific stipulations for rank, course selection, phase levels and grades earned.

For Juniors

  1. Rank in the top 10% of their class based on total quality points from the end of sophomore year through first semester of junior year.
  2. Be enrolled in phase 4 and/or 5 classes for each of the required subjects (English, social studies, language, science, mathematics) during those two years.
  3. Earn a grade of 85 or better as a final grade for all sophomore year subjects and as a mid-year grade for all junior subjects.

For Seniors

  1. Rank in the top 20% of their class based on cumulative quality points from the end of the sophomore year through the first semester of the senior year.
  2. Meet the curriculum requirements for sophomore and junior years as stated in #2 above. Be enrolled in phase 4 or 5 senior English and at least three additional phase 4 or 5 courses chosen from at least three of the following academic departments: English, social studies, math, science, foreign language.
  3. Earn a grade of 85 or better as a final average for all sophomore and junior subjects and as a mid-year grade for all senior subjects. (All grades are weighted based on phase and numerical grade earned.)
