Friends of the Arts
The NDP Friends of the Arts (FOTA) supports the performing and visual arts students and faculty and provides fellowship opportunities to the parents and guardians through visual and performing arts activities.
Whether your daughter is a dancer, sculptor, actor, vocalist, painter, musician, photographer, techie, or graphic designer, she is part of the arts scene at NDP. Friends of the Arts supports our artistic daughters and the faculty who guide them. Through donations of time and creativity, as well as fund raising and social events, Friends of the Arts has built strong ties among the artistic community at NDP and has responded to the specific needs of individual departments through the purchase of new equipment for theatre, music, and art. We also create opportunities to showcase the many talents of our students through art auctions and performances.
FOTA has enabled NDP's arts programs to purchase equipment and participate in activities that were previously out of their reach.
NDP Friends of the Arts was founded in 2003 and currently has about 100 member families, teachers and alumnae. FOTA has enabled NDP's arts programs to purchase equipment and participate in activities that were previously out of their reach. Friends of the Arts funds have been used to help the Music Department purchase six Yamaha electric pianos for the Piano Lab, a professional model Adams rosewood xylophone and a Yamaha baritone saxophone. Money donated to the Drama Department contributed to tangible improvements for the theater: four body microphones for use with both Upper and Middle Level productions, new stage curtains and the spotlight. FOTA money also enabled NDP to join the International Thespian Society. The Art Department has used Friends of the Arts funds to purchase easels, software for the Mac lab and still life objects and other items to enhance the Middle Level Art program.
Friends of the Arts meets on the first Tuesday of most months in Ms. Ward’s Drama Room in the Henry J. Knott Performing Arts Center. Mark your calendar for upcoming meetings on October 2, November 6, December 4, January 8, February 5, March 4, and April 1. All are welcome.
