Senior Service Requirements

NDP provides opportunities to experience service throughout the high school years and encourages students to get involved with various opportunities outside of school.  During Senior year, we require all students to have a significant experience of serving others meeting the following criteria:

  • Must be at least 40 hours (many go well beyond this)
  • Can begin the 4th quarter of Junior Year
  • Must be direct service (face to face with the people being served)
  • Encouraged to fulfill hours all at one site in order to build relationships
  • Must be with a marginalized group such as the elderly, people with disabilities, or people living in material poverty
  • Service placement needs approval by Service Program Director
  • Students reflect upon and process their service experiences in Social Service Seminar.
  • Students will keep up to date on completed hours using an online log of their service hours.
