From Sister Patricia McCarron

A Time for Personal Best

Lent is upon us, and in many ways, the effort and energy put into this liturgical season are akin to athletic training or artistic practice. In large and small ways, through prayer, personal reflection, sacrifice, and service, we work to strengthen our fortitude and be our very best selves in a world that isn’t always its very best. Doing so, we prepare our hearts for Jesus’ resurrection and the promise of eternal life. Jesus and His example of “personal best”—loving one another and loving God completely—enable us to achieve our personal best for the good of the world.
