Terri Byrd Named IAAM Swim Coach of the Year!

Congratulations to Varsity Swim Coach Terri Byrd, who was named the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) Swim Coach of the Year!
Since 2006 Coach Byrd has served as NDP’s swim coach with dedication and humility leading the Blazers to six IAAM championships, and seven National Catholic Swimming Championships. In 2021, she was named Varsity Sports Network’s Girls Swim Coach of the Decade and was named THREE times as the Coach of the Year at the National Catholic Swimming and Diving Championship (2011, 2020, 2022). Even when the spotlight is on her, she is always quick to redirect it on her students, ensuring they receive credit for their hard work and accomplishments.

Coach Byrd is a great advocate for her students in and out of the pool and classroom. She always encourages them to work to their potential and to share their gifts, in true NDP spirit, with the world. Annually her teams are recognized as scholar athletes by the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) Academic All-American program, and over the years she and her swimmers have volunteered at area non-profits in the off season. In the classroom, on field trips and retreats, and during Gym Meet season, Terri is always there for the girls, encouraging, supporting, and modeling teamwork, commitment, and sisterhood.
