Lighting the Way: NDP’s Master Plan

“The primary beneficiaries of this improvement are our students, 50% of whom compete in athletics in the Upper Level and nearly all in the Middle Level,” says Sister Patricia McCarron, SSND, Ph.D., headmistress. “This project continues a legacy of investment and progress, thereby ensuring NDP remains among the best educational options in our region.” She notes that outdoor lighting allows for expanded outside space for class gatherings, social activities, and other events, as well as makes NDP a more desirable option for prospective student-athletes.

Lighting between the parking lot, campus building, and athletic fields will also be installed, promoting safety and visually connecting NDP’s vast campus elements. Lastly, the school will be making improvements to the NDP auxiliary space located at St. Thomas Church off Providence Road, including upgrades and improvements to the church and annex, which also provides for additional meeting space, staff offices, and auxiliary instruction and testing space.

Notre Dame Preparatory School has provided a stellar education for young women in the spirit of the Schools Sisters of Notre Dame for nearly 150 years. Notre Dame Prep’s mission commitment has manifested itself in countless ways over the past decades, from the relocation and expansion of the school to Hampton Lane in 1960 to the creation of new academic programs and complementary facilities, such as the Jane Kroh Satterfield Innovation Wing, to help students achieve the fullness of their God-given potential.

“These new projects are a continuation of this commitment,” says Sister Patricia. “These are exciting developments for our campus, our students, and the long-term future of our school.”
