The philosophy of athletics at Notre Dame Preparatory School is an extension of our school’s mission statement and school community. Our student-athletes learn more than just winning humbly and losing gracefully. It is about the growth and development of our athletes as young adults. An NDP athlete not only improves her athletic ability but also learns what it means to be part of a team, to build on her teammates' talents, and to respect her teammates, opponents, officials, the rules of the game. Student-athletes learn the human values of self-discipline, hard work, perseverance, confidence, tolerance, and leadership. The coaching staff stresses sportsmanship, responsibility, and commitment. NDP's athletic program is defined by how our athletes embrace the core values, good character, and fulfill the school mission statement.
Over the past decade, Notre Dame has seen student participation in sports double. Today, nearly half of all NDP students participate in one of 16 interscholastic sports during the school year, and even more play intramurals. Teams compete in: badminton, basketball, crew, cross country, field hockey, golf, indoor track, lacrosse, soccer, softball, squash, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and winter soccer. The school is a member of the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM) and participates in all IAAM Championships.
