Campus Ministry

As a Catholic school founded on the charism of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Notre Dame Prep considers “spiritual growth” to be one of three pillars of its mission. NDP seeks to foster in every student a personal relationship with God and an understanding of how to live the Church’s mission, particularly through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching.

Campus Ministry seeks to integrate the practice of the Catholic faith in the daily lives of NDP students. Student Campus Ministry representatives lead daily prayer over the morning announcements, participate in liturgies and prayer services, and provide a positive witness to their peers. Students of all faiths are welcome to participate in Campus Ministry at NDP and to share with others the beliefs that shape their own lives.

  • Mass & Prayer Services

    NDP begins and ends its school year with a schoolwide Mass, emphasizing the importance of the Church’s liturgical tradition. The school year is punctuated by many opportunities to attend Mass, particularly on Holy Days and in tandem with special events such as Gym Meet. Students participate in the liturgy by writing and giving Calls to Worship, bringing up the gifts, or serving as lectors or altar servers. Multiple student-led prayer services are also held throughout the year, including during the liturgical seasons of Advent and Lent and for other special occasions.

  • Class Retreats

    Each grade-level curriculum includes an annual class retreat. These retreats focus on coming to know God, self, and others through prayerful and engaging age-appropriate activities. For instance, freshman retreat focuses on building new connections and setting goals for the future, while senior retreat provides a final opportunity to reflect on how students have become women who will transform the world. Older students often help plan and execute retreats for the younger students, serving as examples of faith and servant-leadership.

  • Daily Prayer

    Students lead daily morning prayer for the entire school, centering our community on God’s love. Our school’s chapel is always open during the day as a quiet place to reflect and pray in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. At the end of each school day, students are blessed with the words of SSND foundress Blessed Theresa Gerhardinger: “My dear students, I commend you to the Holy Spirit, through the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and I entrust you forever to her blessed hands. Amen.”

  • Integration of Faith

    NDP provides plenty of opportunities for students to live out their faith. Twice a year, there is an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation on NDP’s campus. In the Middle Level, Campus Ministry is a club that meets during recess and plans liturgies and service projects. In the Upper Level, Advisories elect Campus Ministry representatives to be leaders among their peers. Campus Ministry follows the inspirations of the Spirit and serves the NDP community as it changes and grows.

Notre Dame Preparatory School

A Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls in grades 6–12, sponsored by the School Sisters of Notre Dame
