Meet the Head of School

Since its founding in 1873, Notre Dame Preparatory School has offered a solid liberal arts-based curriculum while responding to the educational needs of the modern world. Today, Notre Dame Prep draws on the diverse leadership talents of Head of School Angela Allen, Ed.D., academic leaders, department directors, the Board of Trustees, and the School Sisters of Notre Dame to educate young women of wisdom, integrity, and compassion—preparing them to become leaders who transform the world. Dr. Allen is Notre Dame Prep's 10th Head of School, and the first lay leader in the school's 152-year history.

Meet Angela Allen, Ed.D.

"From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt the strong sense of mission and the deep commitment to forming young women. It was clear to me that NDP is more than a school; it is a community that nurtures each student’s gifts and calls her to something greater."

Angela Allen, Ed.D., officially assumed the role of Head of School at Notre Dame Preparatory School on July 1, 2025, becoming the first lay leader in the school’s 152-year history.

Selected after a national search, Dr. Allen brings a deep passion for Catholic education and a proven track record of educational leadership. Most recently serving as Associate Head of School at Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, South Carolina, Dr. Allen previously held the role of Associate Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Richmond. Her early career included leadership positions in both public and Catholic schools in Virginia, where she served as principal and assistant principal in Hanover and Henrico counties.

Dr. Allen is drawn to the unique mission of all-girls Catholic education and is energized by the opportunity to lead a community so deeply rooted in faith, academic excellence, and the School Sisters of Notre Dame’s commitment to forming women of wisdom, integrity, and compassion.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the University of Richmond, and a Doctor of Education degree from The College of William and Mary.
