NDP Service Program Honored by Baltimore Ravens

Notre Dame Prep students were in the spotlight at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, October 25, when the Baltimore Ravens recognized the school’s summer service program through its Honor Rows program.

Now in its third decade, Honor Rows is run by the Baltimore Ravens and the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism (GOSV), presented by M&T Bank. At each home game, the program salutes youth groups whose volunteer work makes a real difference in Maryland communities. Honorees are selected by a panel of GOSV, Ravens, and M&T Bank staff.

Fifty students represented NDP’s Service Program at the game and had the opportunity to spend time on the field as Ravens players warmed up, saw their service recognized on the stadium’s big screen, and received a citation from the Governor of Maryland. The recognition was especially meaningful because NDP was nominated by Sisters Academy of Baltimore, one of the school’s longtime community partners.

The honor reflects a summer’s worth of work. While many students were enjoying time away from the classroom, NDP students served as counselors at Camp Umoja and the Sisters Academy Athletic Camp, supported Camp Khwarha, swung hammers on Habitat for Humanity builds, harvested produce at First Fruits Farm, and collected canned goods for neighbors in need. Camp Umoja, held on NDP’s campus, has been serving children from Baltimore City Public Housing since its beginning in 1985.

At NDP, service is more than an item on a checklist. It is a chance to build relationships, gain new perspectives, and put faith into action, and it is central to our mission of educating young women to transform the world. Congratulations to our students, and thank you to the Baltimore Ravens, the Governor’s Office on Service and Volunteerism, M&T Bank, and Sisters Academy for this recognition.

WBAL-TV also featured several NDP students talking about what they’ve learned through service and the relationships they’ve built. Watch the segment here.
