Shadow Day

We are thrilled to welcome your daughter to campus for her Shadow Day visit! A Shadow Day is a vital and required part of NDP’s admissions process, offering the single best way for prospective students to experience our vibrant community firsthand. Held throughout the fall for both Middle and Upper Level applicants, this immersive visit allows your daughter to truly spend a day in the life of an NDP student. Learn more about dress codes, arrival details, and what to expect during your daughter's Shadow Day below.

List of 5 items.

  • How to Register

You will schedule your daughter’s Shadow Day after completing our Inquiry Form for prospective students, which can be accessed on the Application Process page.
  • What to Expect

Your daughter will be paired with a current student who shares her interests—this personalized match ensures she feels comfortable and engaged throughout the day. She will attend classes tailored to her academic interests, giving her a real sense of our innovative curriculum. Lunch from Café NDP will also be provided!
  • What to Wear

Prospective students may wear their school uniform (if they attend a parochial school), but it is not required. If students choose to dress out of uniform or are coming from a public school, NDP suggests “Sunday church casual” attire—a skirt and blouse, a dress and cardigan, or slacks and a shirt—along with rubber-soled and closed-toed shoes. Prospective students should not wear open-toed shoes, flip flops, jeans, sweats, or hoodies.
  • Arrival & Dismissal Instructions

Arrival: Check-in takes place at 8:00 a.m. Please arrive no earlier than 7:45 a.m. on the morning of your daughter's scheduled Shadow Day. There will be designated parking spots along the main driveway for Shadow Day visitors. Students and members of our Admissions Office will be there to greet you at the main entrance.

Dismissal: Prospective Middle Level students (applying for Grades 6, 7, or 8) will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m., while prospective Upper Level students (applying for Grades 9 or 10) will be dismissed at 2:15 p.m.
  • Parent Information Session & Group Tour

On the morning of your daughter's Shadow Day, we invite all parents and guardians to stay for a brief Information Session and Small Group Tour. This session takes place immediately following check-in, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m.

We understand that morning work schedules can be demanding. If you are unable to join us immediately after check-in, you are welcome to return to campus on an alternate morning to experience the session and tour. Please feel free to reach out to our Admissions Team with any questions or to coordinate a separate date.
