Foundress Society & Hampton Award

The Foundress Society honors distinguished alumnae and other members of the NDP Community who embody the spirit of Notre Dame Prep and advance the mission of the School Sisters of Notre Dame. The following criteria is required for Foundress Society recipients: If an alumna, a degree-earning graduate 10 years out from time of nomination; a person of integrity who shows exceptional dedication and service reflective of the SSND mission and who, by her/his actions; works to better our world; a person who lives out the mission and philosophy of NDP; she/he may be living or deceased; ideally, she/he has had a direct impact on the NDP community.

Created in 2010, as part of Notre Dame Preparatory School's “50 Years on Hampton Lane” celebration, the Hampton Award recognizes those individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the school, particularly the Hampton Lane campus.

    Victoria Chou, Ph.D. ’92, P’31— two-term member of NDP’s Board of Trustees, including Vice Chair; a maternal and child health epidemiologist and an Associate Scientist in the Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, she served on the school’s COVID-19 Medical Public Health Advisory Team; most recently, she co-chaired the school’s Common Ground Campaign, which raised funds for the new Huffman Commons and the Fund for Notre Dame Prep, the School’s annual fund

    Sister Delia Dowling, SSND
    —co-founder and former head of Sisters Academy of Baltimore; as chair of the School Sisters’ of Notre Dame (SSND) Sponsorship Council, she helped usher in a new era of lay leadership for SSND ministries; serving as an SSND representative to the NDP Board, she assisted in the school’s transition last year from religious to lay leadership with the school’s first lay Head of School and first lay Board Chair

    —celebrating her 50th year as an NDP educator, former Languages Department Chair, and current Spanish teacher; she has served in numerous leadership capacities during her tenure, including shepherding the school’s Strategic Planning process for several accreditation cycles and mentoring young teachers

    Dawn and Richie Huffman—alumna parent and founders of Celebree School and Huffman Family Brands; through the Huffman Family Foundation, they support initiatives that strengthen children, families, and communities. They have supported the Rollins-Luetkemeyer Scholars program at NDP; they were also a lead donor to NDP’s Common Ground Campaign, which helped create the space now named in their honor: The Huffman Commons.

    George Kilroy—alumna parent and current grandparent; serves on the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee; as co-chair of the Common Ground Campaign, helped develop strategy, engage donors, and advance the vision of the project

    John and Marlene Schiech
    —alumna parent and long-time volunteers; Marlene, a nurse by training, has been a longtime volunteer for the school’s nurse’s office and the annual galas; a dedicated Board member, John served on the Common Ground Campaign Executive Committee, and together he and Marlene generously supported the project

    Lisa and Bill Stromberg
    — alumna parents; active philanthropists and volunteers in the Baltimore community; established the Stromberg Family Scholarship Fund and have generously supported NDP’s previous two capital campaigns; Lisa has served as a two-term Board member and chaired the Head of School Search Committee, which resulted in the school’s first lay head

    —alumna and alumnae grandparents; Nancy has given longtime service to the school’s Board as both a Trustee and Trustee Associate, focusing her work on the Building and Grounds Committee; both she and her husband are longtime supporters of the school’s gala and many other philanthropic efforts

    • Patricia Ennis Groeninger: Long-time Middle Level coach and physical education instructor; founded NDP’s Sisters Academy Service Camp; continues to volunteer in numerous capacities well after her retirement in 2007.

Notre Dame Preparatory School’s Foundress Society honors distinguished alumnae and other members of the NDP Community who embody the spirit of Notre Dame Prep and advance the mission of the School Sisters of Notre Dame. The following criteria is required for Foundress Society recipients: If an alumna, a degree-earning graduate 10 years out from time of nomination; a person of integrity who shows exceptional dedication and service reflective of the SSND mission and who, by her/his actions; works to better our world; a person who lives out the mission and philosophy of NDP; she/he may be living or deceased; ideally, she/he has had a direct impact on the NDP community. Nominations are accepted on a rolling basis, and honorees are inducted every five years.
