Varsity Cross Country Claims Second Overall at IAAM Championships, Dominates Open Race
The Notre Dame Prep Varsity Cross Country team capped off an incredible season with a stellar performance at the 2025 IAAM Cross Country Championships at Shawan Downs on Tuesday, October 21, securing a second place finish overall in the highly competitive A Conference.
The team's impressive showing was led by standout individual efforts. Lucy M. '25 finished second overall in the championship race, leading the charge for NDP. For their exceptional performances, Lucy, Elisa G. '27, and Ella N. '26 were all named to the IAAM All-Conference team.
The team's depth was on full display in the "Open" Race, where the Blazers delivered a dominant, first place victory. The team swept the top three spots, placed nine runners in the top 10, and had 15 runners in the top 20. The race was won by junior Abigail K., who celebrated her birthday with an individual gold medal.
The championship meet also saw numerous personal records by our runners, highlighting the hard work and dedication of the entire squad. This year's success is a testament to the team's significant growth as three girls broke the 20:00 barrier for a 5K, 12 girls broke 22:00 (up from 8 last year), and 28 girls ran under 24:00 (up from 21 last year). Congratulations to the entire team on a fantastic season!
