Notre Dame Prep Celebrates Historic Installation of its Tenth Head of School on 192nd SSND Foundation Day

The Notre Dame Preparatory School community gathered for a momentous dual celebration on Friday, October 24. The event honored the 192nd Foundation Day of the School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) and marked the historic installation of Dr. Angela Allen as the school's tenth Head of School and its first-ever lay leader.

Representatives from the entire NDP community—from School Sisters of Notre Dame and members of Notre Dame Prep's Board of Trustees to alumnae, parents, faculty, staff, and students—came together along with several educational leaders throughout the Baltimore area to honor this significant milestone in the school's history.

The day’s events began with a special breakfast where Dr. Allen received a warm welcome from the SSND and members of the Board. Following this, the community convened for a beautiful Foundation Day Liturgy, celebrated by Fr. Joe Muth, to reflect on the SSND's 192-year legacy of faith, education, service, and transformation.

Integrated within the Foundation Day Liturgy was the special Installation Ceremony, during which Dr. Allen was officially commissioned as the school's tenth Head of School by Sister Charmaine Krohe, SSND, Provincial Leader of the SSND Atlantic-Midwest Province. During her remarks, Dr. Allen gifted a daisy flower lapel pin to each student as a symbol of the day and the path forward. Representing her favorite flower, the pin serves as a reminder of personal growth and the beauty of what lies ahead for the school community.

The liturgy concluded with the sacred tradition of the attending School Sisters renewing their vows. The day marked a wonderful and fitting celebration, perfectly bridging the school's cherished history with its bright future.
