Since arriving at NDP, Pomplon has shepherded much-beloved, long-standing service traditions, such as Camp Umoja, Pasta for the Philippines, Diner with our Elders, and the Mississippi and Virginia Habitat Trips. Under his leadership NDP’s program has grown considerably, to include service learning components in three classes, the Refugee Youth Project, the establishment of Club Umoja, and the launching of the Arizona service trip, to name a few.
For his past work, Pomplon was named one of The Daily Record’s “20 in Their Twenties” in 2012, and he received the Refugee Youth Project Community Engagement Award for his dedication to the RYP program in 2014.
Pomplon is a person who practices what he teaches. A 2006 graduate of Loyola University, he served in Alaska through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps (JVC) for a year before coming to NDP. In that short time, his work with developmentally disabled adults earned him the Volunteer of the Year Award from Hope Community Resources, Inc., a state-wide organization that provides services and supports to people with disabilities.
Throughout his career, Mr. Pomplon has made an immeasurable difference in the life of Notre Dame Prep and in the greater Baltimore community. He is a wonderful role model for our students, and his energy, enthusiasm, positive outlook, and commitment are hallmarks of the work he does every day.
