Fun, Fundraising, and Philanthropy: Highlights from Penny Queen Week
Penny Queen Week, a beloved tradition at Notre Dame Prep, brought energy and excitement to campus from November 18–22. This spirited fundraiser combines fun and philanthropy as Upper Level students rally around their elected class "Penny Queens," who don quirky costumes, perform playful stunts, and collect spare change for impactful service initiatives. With the coveted Penny Queen banner on the line, each grade competes to raise the most funds in this friendly and meaningful competition. Organized by our Christian Community Awareness Program (CCAP), the week supports several vital causes, including:
Josanna Abromaitis Service Endowment: Named for the SSND who founded Our Daily Bread, Maryland's largest meal center, this fund supports service projects like Holy Week delegations, blazer bus trips, and Dinner with Our Elders events.
Ignacio Ellacuria Scholarships: Rooted in NDP's connection with a women-led community in El Salvador, these scholarships have empowered 23 high school students this past year alone.
Camp Umoja: Providing safe, enriching activities for Baltimore City children, Penny Queen donations fund buses that connect communities to mentorship programs and summer camps.
Every penny is goes toward life-changing opportunities, proving that small acts lead to great impact!
