Engineering Students Explore Power Grid Logistics at Constellation Energy
Students in Notre Dame Preparatory School's Engineering Principles class recently took their learning beyond the classroom with an immersive visit to Constellation Energy’s Power Scheduling Department on Thursday, October 9. The visit provided a deep dive into the complexities of energy management. Students learned how electricity is dispatched and managed across the power grid and how expert teams work to balance supply and demand in real-time to ensure reliable service for customers.
The class also toured the Trade Floor to see how trading, scheduling, and meteorology teams collaborate on short-term planning and energy response. To top off the experience, the students applied their new knowledge in a hands-on activity, testing their own trading strategies using a fun portfolio of candy assets. Special thanks to Mrs. Janine Field '97, Engineering Teacher, for organizing such a wonderful off-campus experience for our students.
