NDP Student-Athletes Focus on Mental Wellness in ‘Person Before Player’ Workshops

On Friday, January 9, our student-athletes gathered for an important conversation about balance and well-being during Person Before Player workshops. Held during lunch periods, the sessions were designed to emphasize the importance of supporting the whole student, ensuring that athletes feel supported both on and off the field.

The workshops were led by Dr. Shreya Hessler and Casey Kutner, in collaboration with the NDP Counseling Department. Dr. Hessler and Ms. Kutner delivered impactful presentations that addressed the unique pressures faced by today’s student-athletes, offering strategies for maintaining mental wellness amidst the demands of competition and academics. We extend our gratitude to them for leading these meaningful discussions.

The conversation continues next month as the Counseling Department will host two additional sessions on Tuesday, February 3—a follow-up session for students and a dedicated evening session for families.
