In Their Own Words...Why Alumnae Support NDP

Each person views philanthropy differently and draws on personal motivations for giving to an institution that is dear. Here, in their own words, Notre Dame Prep alumnae explain what motivated them to give to their beloved alma mater during the Common Ground Campaign.

I’ve chosen to donate to make the experiences of future NDP students better. I had some excellent experiences from teachers and friends that I have to this day, and I’d like other students in the future to be able to have it even more.

Notre Dame has meant so much to me throughout my life and has always been there to support me to give me the confidence to achieve my goals. If we don’t support Notre Dame, one day she may not be there when we need her. It is important that her legacy lasts forever.  It is an honor and a privilege to give back to an institution that has given me so much.

I have been inspired by the other alumnae who have given so generously.  All of the “girls” in my family attended NDP, my mother, Marie Besche Neville, my aunt, Regina Besche McNamara, and three of my sisters, Trish Neville Woodall, Anne Neville Oates and Nancy Neville.  We shared many cherished memories of our times at NDP, especially our wonderful friendships that grew and blossomed during (and after) our four years there. The friends that stood by us, giving us strength in hard times, cheering us on in good times, and lasted a lifetime.  My gift is in honor of my family and all of our dear friends.

Financial support makes the programs and unique traditions that define NDP possible. I’m donating because NDP gave me incredible teachers and lifelong friendships, and I want future generations to experience that same support in an environment that grows with the girls to meet their needs.

My years at Notre Dame Prep gave me lifelong friendships, the courage to pursue any path I chose, and a deep understanding of the responsibility we have to give back. Serving on the Alumnae Board has deepened that gratitude and brought me even closer to incredible women across so many class years who continue to inspire me. Supporting the Common Ground Campaign is an investment in the daily life and future leadership of NDP students. It is my hope that my daughters will one day experience the same encouragement, faith, and sense of belonging that shaped me.

I am so happy to be able to donate to the Common Ground campaign because Notre Dame played such a meaningful role in shaping the person I am today. My parents did not graduate from high school, so they emphasized the importance of education and encouraged me to take full advantage of every opportunity available. Notre Dame became a place where I found support, confidence, and pathways unavailable to them.

I am proud to be in a position to support Notre Dame, as she supported me, and I urge all to join me in whatever way they can to continue the important role of women-centric education.

I believe that NDP helped shape me into the woman I am today. Being back on campus as part of the alumnae board has reminded me of the spirit and sisterhood that continues to be alive and well. There was no hesitation to make a recurrent gift towards the Common Ground campaign that aims to only improve the space that I love so that new generations can thrive. I hope to return to the student commons as a parent of a student one day and see the joy it brings to the community.

I want to give back to the school that has given me so much. I know how lucky I am as an adult to be a part of a school that maintains community and relationships with students beyond graduation. I see the value in continuing to support the growth of the school for future generations of NDP girls!
