Student and Faculty Achievements Recognized at Upper Level Awards Assembly
On Wednesday, May 21, Notre Dame Prep's Upper Level held its annual Awards Assembly, a beloved tradition that celebrates the achievements of outstanding students and dedicated faculty members. The event brought together the school community to recognize leadership, academic excellence, service, and the profound impact of those who embody the mission and spirit of NDP.
The assembly spotlighted several members of the Class of 2025, whose passion, dedication, and compassion have left a lasting impression on the NDP community. The following Senior Awards were presented:
Jahniya B. received the prestigious Academic Excellence Award, honoring her enrollment in the school’s most rigorous courses, her distinction as an AP Scholar, and her recognition in multiple honor societies, including Cum Laude. Her commitment to interdisciplinary learning and academic rigor is truly commendable.
Kaitlyn M. was named the first-ever recipient of the newly established Sister Patricia McCarron Leadership Medal. This award recognizes a senior who leads with compassion and courage, inspires collaboration, finds creative solutions, and promotes an environment of mutual respect and humility. Kaitlyn embodies all of these traits and more, making her a fitting honoree for this special recognition.
The Service Medal was presented to Abbey D., Campbell D., Nyla H., and Lucy L., whose consistent involvement in NDP service programs and unwavering support of their fellow Blazers, faculty, and staff exemplify the school's commitment to community.
Kaitlyn M., Ayomide O., and Alaina P. were honored with the Bene Merenti Award, which is awarded to students who “well deserve” recognition for their exemplary commitment to service within NDP and the broader community. Collectively, these students far exceeded the school’s required service hours and made a meaningful difference in many lives.
The highest student honor, the NDP Medal, was awarded to Katherine P. for her exceptional embodiment of excellence, leadership, cooperation, and school spirit. Known for her generous heart and gracious demeanor, Katherine has left an indelible legacy at NDP.
Molly B. received the coveted White Blazer Award, given to the senior whose positive influence has deeply impacted the school community. Molly’s inclusive spirit, unwavering support for others, and embodiment of leadership through unity and sisterhood reflect the very best of NDP.
The Upper Level Awards Assembly also honored three remarkable faculty members whose dedication to teaching and mentorship continues to shape and inspire NDP students:
Mrs. Aimee Sann, Upper Level Math Teacher, received the Hyacinth For The Soul Award for her commitment to Catholic education and her steadfast dedication to Notre Dame Prep. Originally designed by Ms. Dorothea Newnam, a former faculty member, to honor her grandmother, the Hyacinth For The Soul Award rewards committed teachers who are dedicated to Catholic education and especially to Notre Dame Prep.
Mrs. Kim Bryson ’98, Physical Education Department Chairperson, was honored with the Mildred Motsko Hunt Memorial Award for her exceptional commitment to students and education, going above and beyond in her efforts to teach, inspire, and support. To win this honor, the recipient must possess a commitment, “above and beyond the call of duty,” to education, to children, and to the NDP philosophy. They must demonstrate these ideals, to an exceptional degree, in daily contact with students, co-workers, parents, and friends. In her/his efforts to teach and inspire, she/he should be kind, loving, and strong; in other words, someone who elicits respect both personally and professionally.
Mrs. Mary Agnes Sheridan, Director and Department Chairperson of the STEAM Program, received the Catholic School Teacher of the Year Award. As the founder of the Middle Level STEAM Program, Mrs. Sheridan has helped inspire countless of students to explore, create, and learn. Because of her, students are able to explore numerous areas of study. Our STEAM Program has flourished under her direction as we offer courses in architecture, computer science, engineering, and medicine.
As always, the Upper Level Awards Assembly served as a powerful reminder of the strength, talent, and compassion that thrive within the NDP community. Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees—you continue to transform our world with purpose and heart.
