Fire Protection Engineering Students Take Part in University of Maryland's 11th Annual FPE Design Challenge

Ten students in our Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) Club had the exciting opportunity to compete in the 11th annual Fire Protection Engineering Design Challenge, sponsored by the University of Maryland A. James Clark School of Engineering's Department of Fire Protection Engineering, which culminated in a final "Burn Day" Competition on Friday, April 11, at the ATF National Laboratory Center in Beltsville, MD.

Representing NDP with three student-built model homes—each featuring custom fire detection and suppression systems—students competed against ten other schools from across Maryland and Virginia. Special congratulations to the overall winner, Elizabeth Seton High School!

In addition to competing, students participated in live demonstrations led by UMD’s FPE Department and the ATF Lab, gaining hands-on experience in the field of fire safety engineering. We’re proud of our students' creativity and collaboration and look forward to returning next year.
