Aaliyah P. '27 Named to Junior Achievement of Central Maryland 18 Under 18 List

Each year, Junior Achievement (JA) of Central Maryland and Baltimore magazine honor young changemakers through their 18 Under 18 list, celebrating students who are making a positive impact in their communities. This year, we are proud to share that Aaliyah P. '27 has been selected as one of these inspiring individuals.

At Notre Dame Preparatory School, we celebrate students who lead with purpose, compassion, and courage. Aaliyah exemplifies all three. For her Eagle Scout project, she envisioned something bold and new for Troop 851—its first international initiative. With support from her troop, church, a boys troop in the Philippines, and the NDP community, Aaliyah created mobile classrooms for a school in the Philippines. These two Kariton Klasrums, which means “pushcart classrooms” in Tagalog, were designed for easy assembly, disassembly, and transport. The project reflects Aaliyah’s emerging talents as a designer, fundraiser, speaker, and project manager.

Aliyah is also a dedicated scholar, a passionate volunteer working with children from Baltimore public housing and refugee communities, a three-sport athlete, and a gifted musician. She sings and performs with the St. Gabriel Catholic Church Angels and Filipino American choirs, plays both the flute and piano, and recently earned a perfect score in the 2024 National Piano Guild Audition. She also shares her musical talents with local senior centers, where her performances bring joy and comfort.

We are proud to support and celebrate Aaliyah’s outstanding commitment to service, leadership, and the arts. She along with the other 2025 JA 18 Under 18 recipients were formally recognized during a special ceremony on Towson University's campus on Thursday, May 15.
