Sophomores Take Advocacy to Annapolis for Developmental Disabilities Day
Notre Dame Prep sophomores Liv K. ’28 and Meg R. ’28 took their civic engagement to the state capital, representing the school and the broader community at the 2026 Developmental Disabilities (DD) Day at the Legislature in Annapolis on Wednesday, February 18.
Joining hundreds of advocates, families, and state leaders, the students participated in a comprehensive day of lobbying and education co-sponsored by the DD Council and the Developmental Disabilities Coalition. Working alongside faculty and trainees from the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Liv and Meg took part in 12 distinct legislative visits, directly advocating for the priorities and needs of the DD community.
In addition to their meetings with lawmakers, the students attended a specialized lunch-and-learn panel hosted by public health and disability advocacy leaders. The hands-on experience provided these Blazers with a firsthand look at the legislative process, teaching them how to effectively advocate for crucial issues at the state level.
