NDP Speech & Debate Delivers Powerful Performance at BCFL Metro Championship and Qualifies Five for National Tournament

Notre Dame Prep's Speech and Debate Team delivered a powerhouse performance at the Baltimore Catholic Forensic League (BCFL) Metro Championship on Saturday, March 14, with all five participating students earned highly-coveted bids to the upcoming National Catholic Forensic League (NCFL) Grand National Tournament in Washington, D.C., at the end of May.

Competing against a crowded field of 21 schools, the small but mighty NDP roster secured an impressive 3rd place overall finish in the Speech division and 5th place overall in the tournament. The Blazers' dominance was spearheaded by a phenomenal individual performance from Hailey L. '27, who secured the title of Triathlete Champion. Hailey medaled across three distinct categories, securing 3rd place in both Dramatic Performance and Oral Interpretation of Literature, while also taking 4th place in Duo Interpretation of Literature alongside Evelyn P. ’27.

The team also celebrated a first-place victory from Madelyn B. ’28, who was named Champion in the Oral Interpretation of Literature category. The historic sweep was made possible by the dedication of the competitors and the vital support of faculty and volunteer judges Mr. Pociluyko, Mr. Luong, Mrs. Barton, Ms. Rugas, and Ms. Gutierrez.
