Middle Level Students Reach New Heights in ‘Tower of Power’ Engineering Challenge

On Monday, January 12, Notre Dame Prep’s Middle Level students put their structural engineering skills to the ultimate test in the "Tower of Power in Half an Hour" challenge. Armed with only one box of spaghetti and one bag of marshmallows, teams of students raced against the clock to construct the tallest freestanding tower possible.

This fierce competition serves as a potential gateway to a prestigious event hosted by The Johns Hopkins University’s Whiting School of Engineering. In celebration of National Engineers Week (February 23–27, 2026), JHU invites just 25 teams from the Greater Baltimore area to their campus for the official "Tower of Power" event.

The stakes are high: if our students advance to the next round, they won't just be competing against other schools. They will face off against teams of JHU undergraduate students, alumni, and engineering faculty! We are eagerly waiting to see if any of our NDP teams secure one of the coveted invitations to represent us against the best in Baltimore next month. Stay tuned!
